Ardglass is a pretty town and fishing port on the coast of County Down. A new treatment works was required to cater for increased waste water flows in the area, and also more stringent environmental requirements for discharge water from sewage works. It was decided to build on a green field site just outside the town.

As the very first stage of waste water treatment, an SKE Solutions vertical screen has been acquired to remove heavy material from the flow before further treatment at the works. This channel mounted screen is manufactured from 316 grade stainless steel, for maximum salt water resistance, due to fish processing waste and the location close to the sea. The screen has been carefully designed to interface with other equipment, and is robust and simple in operation to provide an effective long term solution for this site.
